Dharma School Series

From Bitter to Sweet

A Buddhist Approach to Taming Anger and Transforming Our Lives

In this Dharma class we will be reading from the 6th Chapter of “Way of the Bodhisattva”, a classic Buddhist wisdom text delivered by 8th century Buddhist monk, Shantideva. We will study ways of cultivating Patience as an antidote to anger and aggression. We will explore ways of catching and neutralizing anger in order to become more loving and compassionate. In addition to book study, we will be listening to three Dharma talks from contemporary Buddhist nun, Pema Chodron, from her CD recording,“Don’t Bite the Hook”. Pema will teach us ways of putting Shantideva’s wisdom into practice in our lives. This is a valuable experience!
