7:30-8:30pm Study/Discussion: Way of the Bodhisattva, by Shantideva, Chapter 3, Taking Hold of Bodhicitta
So far we have read and reflected on chapter 1, The Excellence of Bodhicitta, which describes the supreme virtue and practice of radical compassion and the benefit of entering into this practice. In chapter 2, Shantideva reveals his human weakness and vows to embrace bodhicitta in order to save all beings. In chapter 3, we will explore how a life lived with bodhicitta is a life lived in the service of others even unto death. As in ch.3, v.13: This body I have now resigned to serve the pleasure of all living beings. Let them ever kill, despise and beat it, using it according to their wish. How can we develop this kind of self-giving compassion? How are we individually called to practice bodhicitta in our everyday lives? We will reading, reflecting and sharing in sangha.
We will resume our study in the main temple. Please join us. All welcomed!!
