Dae Yen Sa International Buddhist Temple 19 Kinsey Road, New Hartford, CT 06057 860-459-6255 HIGHLIGHT FROM JUNE RETREAT Why do We Light the Lantern Anita presented information about the great spiritual significance of lighting the lantern to dispel ignorance and reveal the light of knowledge. The traditional fuel used (ghee), the burning wick, and the light itself all have special relevance to the journey. The detail given in describing the ghee as the material purified by burning, the bridging of the wick also burning away, and the remaining light is very special. The lantern is not diminished by lighting other lanterns, and the effect of burning lanterns spreading light is cumulative. *** BUDDHIST FAITH FELLOWSHIP OF CONNECTICUT MINDFULNESS RETREAT 2009 The Buddhist Faith Fellowship will hold their annual treat at the temple.
